The MailPoint System is integrated with MS Exchange, using the Exchange Web Service (EWS) to capture incoming and outgoing email. The journaling function of Exchange needs to be turned on.

MailPoint requires an SQL database as mail storage. The database must be installed on a separate server. Disk space calculation for this server will depend on the amount of traffic through the email system.

For small installations, a powerful database server is capable of hosting the three main services connected to the system: The indexing service, the tagging engine and the search server. For organisations with a high daily mail flow these services should run on separate servers. One server must have IIS enabled. The system supports server virtualization.
